From: Road Glidin' Don on 7 Mar 2010 10:07 Drinks on me, folks. I was talking with some people, all of whom have Softail Customs with the 200mm rear tire, and they're swearing to me that they only get 5,000 to 7,000 miles out of those fat 200mm tires that bike has before they have to replace them. That was alarming news, since my wife recently switched from her Sportster to a Softail with that same tire. The first person who claimed the 5-7k tire life, I replied that's gotta be bullshit. But, then two others chimed in and said they have the same experience... Is this short tire mileage really the case, based on others' experience here? I find this surprising since our other bikes have/had 130s, 140s and 160s and, regardless of those widths, we easily get 12k miles out of them. With the amount of riding we do, getting half that mileage is going to be a pricey and inconvenient proposition I hadn't expected - especially once the higher price of the tire is factored in as well.

Shirley, these beers have gone flat, sittin' there. Can I get a fresh round? I'm thinking the 200's wear out faster cause their owners like to smoke them more than they did the 130's, 140's, 160's, etc. BTW nice pictures on the website. Wedding photos look straight outta the 70's maybe 80's in Canada. :-) -- 74 CB 450 - Stolen; 74 Z1 900 - Traded; 76 FX 1200 - Stolen; 78 FX(E) 86 CI - Daily rider nice weather; 02 FXDX 88 CI - Daily rider other weather
