John

I might try the 12T front sprocket later when I get done tuning the
engine to where I like it, it is close now, but I hope I don't go backwards

You're not a 50 something blond-haired hippie like guy
that gave his younger cousin a ride in the Catskills
mountain on the back of streetbike up a dirt road
in the 70's sliding a tad sideways as we went?

anyhow can you find a slip over pipe that you could
vary the length to get a reasonable idea on the
"perfect" length... then weld up the end tip

I used to do this for cart racers (them guys are nuts)
timing the exhaust pulse to suck the exhaust out the
valves just a tad before redline <grin>

No John. not a 50er

it all started with a 68 Yamaha 350 street bike, then a 70 CB 750
street bike, my buddy also purchased a new Kawasaki Mach 1 500cc 60hp 2
stroke triple, nasty for it's time, the Honda loved to tour the
highways. then lets see, a 72 Suzuki TS90 put the 100cc racing kit on it
stretch the swingarm 2", then a TS 185 Suzuki, my favorite, then a
Suzuki GT380 with the Ram air scoop on the cyl head, and then a Suzuki
tm400 motocrosser, then I laid off bikes and got married in 77 at 32yrs
old,then in 96 I wanted a bike again, purchased a Honda 600 twin street
bike(a Dog) then a 2000 Sportster 1200 custom got rid of it in 02 and
purchased a new 02 Yamaha FZ1 put 25K on it best bike I have owned, sold
it in 07 and purchased a new Suzuki SV650S still have it excellent bike,
also forgot, had a 89 CR250 motocrosser, and a 86 TRX 250R quad set it
up for moto racing fast quad, and I now have an 07 400EX quad and the
mighty Honda CRF230L, I swear my 35yr old Suzuki TS185 had more power
than this new Honda 4 stroke. and I think i am 65 now I don't know......

Chet

PS going to experiment with the length of the pipe, I agree with the
pulses as you were saying
