There's a sort of slightly sweeping, swooping bit somewhere between J13 & J15 that relieves the monotony slightly and tends to find the cruise control[1] overridden. I haven't done it on a bike since I had the R90/6 and it was still just the A74. [1] Being one of the few motorways I use in the UK that, on most occasions I find myself on it, it's worth engaging cruise control for a decent length of time. -- +-------------------------------------------------------------------+ | Pete Fisher at Home: Peter(a)ps-fisher.demon.co.uk | | Voxan Roadster Yamaha WR250Z/Supermoto "Old Gimmer's Hillclimber" | | Gilera GFR * 2 Moto Morini 2C/375 Morini 350 "Forgotten Error" | +-------------------------------------------------------------------+

But agreed, awful stretch of road, to be traversed with throttle pinned. Even the services aren't worth stopping at ... Paul.

SInce the last bit of work to link the M6/M74, I don't think the A74 exists any more. I used to love going to Glasgow back in the '90s when it was A74 nearly all the way. Loverly run it was. -- Bruce Porter XJR1300SP, XJ900F, Pegaso 650 Trail (x2) one red one grey POTM#1(KoTL), WUSS#1 , YTC#1(bar), OSOS#2(KoTL) , DS#3 , IbW#18 ,Apostle#8 "The internet is a huge and diverse community and not every one is friendly" http://www.ytc1.co.uk There *is* an alternative! http://www.openoffice.org/

We were somewhere around Barstow, on the edge of the desert, when the drugs began to take hold. I remember R C Nesbit <spam(a)ukrm.net> saying something like: >Di I ever tell you about when I passed Lockerby just >before.......dronedronedone A bomber passed overhead? |
