From: Chuck Rhode on 6 Mar 2010 23:35 I received one institutional-sized container of green soap in the mail today: o http://www.lacusveris.com/Snaps/green_soap.jpg Bad, huh? Don't let pharmacists tell you any differently: They're still making and using this stuff by the tank-car load. -- ... Be Seeing You, ... Chuck Rhode, Sheboygan, WI, USA ... Shipping to me was $9.00. Other places get between $4.00: o http://www.amazon.com/Green-Soap-Tincture-16-Oz/dp/B000R8K9B0 .... and $12.00 per *pint!* o http://www.drugsdepot.com/store.php/drugsdepot/pd202643 .... which I think is about what retail stores used to charge for small sizes. Most people could make do with a pint, but I put the stuff full strength in pump dispensers around the house and carry it in a squeeze bottle on camping trips, so I go through it. A gallon lasts me at least two years. It's astringent, but it goes into solution instantly and washes off cleanly. There's nothing quite like it. -- ... Be Seeing You, ... I was able to find all kinds of MSDSs for isocyanates that spec green soap for cleanup because these chemicals react with water. Also instructions for foam insulation equipment mention it. Who knew? Then there's this ditty from the US Center for Disease Control: o http://www.cdc.gov/noes/noes2/x5566occ.html .... which purports to show industrial exposure to green soap by occupation in the early 1980s. Back then tattoo parlors didn't rate. -- ... Be Seeing You, ... Chuck Rhode, Sheboygan, WI, USA ... Weather: http://LacusVeris.com/WX ... 37° — Wind NE 3 mph — Sky overcast. Mist.

So what's the deal? Is green soap supposed to be bad for you or something? We used to use it all the time after they told us we couldn't wash our hands in that cold cold methylene chloride anymore.
