Geez, then go measure the size of a H-D Compact windshield, and find one the same size that isn't detachable. The main point of my reply was that the size of this H-D Compact model is perfect for wind protection on a Sporty, IMHO, and the detachable feature is just a convenient little extra - again, IMHO. LOL...you beat me to it. I wanted a windshield for my XL1200 for to ride down to Santa Barbara (from WA) in a month or so. A dear friend (David Crosby) is ill and canceled some tour dates. I want to go visit him and his family, as well as have a good excuse for a longer round trip. David has owned a few Harleys and is a good rider...Sonny Barger notes David as one of the only people who backed the HA's position at the free Stones concert at Altamont....that's another unrelated story. I just want to see if he's well enough to go for a ride in that "Sunny Southern Weather" I didn't want to spend much for a windshield, so I went to Ebay and found a used Memphis Shades shield. I'd considered these shields butt- ugly and cheap...but I didn't care, it's just for this trip. Since I have a custom headlight nacelle, I wanted a handlebar mount only, which is something I consider to be a joke....but it's much sturdier than I expected. I spent $40.00 and did about 200 miles on it last week...I have no complaints, but it's coming off as soon as I get home. Roy McAlister www.mcalisterguitars.com

Hey Roy, Can I get you to tell that story? That has to be an interesting take. Cheers, Mild Bill AH#27
