If this goes to the worst case, does that mean the French can nobble my UK licence? That's not good news.

I think that they're more likely to do this if you're a resident in France or if you were caught by FrogPlod. If you're caught by FrogPlod, then they're more likely to take your licence off you and ban you from driving in France (after having paid the fine). However, I've read in the past (in Bike, IIRC) a case of a German rider in the UK brought before the beak in the UK where the judge did exactly this. This was years ago, though (as I remember I was in the UK when I read this). -- Cab

At the moment fixed camera fines come to nothing as they can't get the details from DVLA. That is, apparently, going to change eventually. In your case though, as Hertz have supplied your details to the Gendarmerie enforcement set up, perhaps you will get a letter inviting you to put your hands up to it and cough up. Until the ability to tie up your UK reg. car to the same name and address comes in to force you can presumably safely ignore such penalty notices. As I said the latest stuff I have seen from the Times (accepted sources porl?) is only talking about following up to collect fines, not to impose points under the miscreant's license issuing country arrangements (EC only presumably). Though naturally our lot want that as well. http://driving.timesonline.co.uk/tol/life_and_style/driving/article3587147.ece Des was muttering darkly some time ago about your speeding sins being recorded until the day of reckoning some time in the future when all this is in place. So the first time you get identifiably nicked they collect on the rest. IMO I can see there being serious chain of evidence problems with that, but we may have a Zeitgeistenpolizei state by then. -- +----------------------------------------------------------------+ | Pete Fisher at Home: Peter(a)ps-fisher.demon.co.uk | | Voxan Roadster Gilera Nordwest * 2 Yamaha WR250Z | | Gilera GFR * 2 Moto Morini 2C/375 Morini 350 "Forgotten Error" | +----------------------------------------------------------------+ |
