Personal preferences innit.

I have no particular desire to go very fast, 90-ish comes in handy on
motorways but I dont enjoy the windforce trying to rip my head off
and I prefer to pootle around the lanes in no particular hurry.
Advancing age means weak neck muscles, spinal arthritis and an iffy hip
so high speeds and hard suspension become an exercise in masochism.
Fine for those who enjoy it but not my scene.

The silly little shopping trolley is actually my most comforable bike
and the supermarkets are only 2 miles away so speed is irrelevant for
that one. OTOH I am considering replacing the rest of the stable for
something more comfortable for when I feel the need for a good bimble.

Just drink less if that's an issue. But even if you need to drink it
from time to time, just as you may need to ride a slow bike, it's
missing the point entirely. Beer is drunk for its alcohol; bikes are
ridden for speed.

If you added 'around bends' to the end of that, I might agree. I'd be
quite happy with a bike that did 100mph flat out if I lived where you
do, as long as it was something like a 250 race rep or a supermoto.

that could be the problem area.

Sure. Just like you can get strong drink and weaker drink. But they
can both get you drunk.

I was purposely not defining 'speed', but I think you'd agree that a
dullsville pretty much the anti-apotheosis thereof.
