KMX: mega result! Stripped down the top end on my spare KMX200 engine from the barn. I had no idea what state this was in, as it was bought as a non-runner/spares lump. Head is of a later design. Very different from the original early one and also mint. The piston is a nearly new genuine Kawasaki part with almost nil trace of any... 11 Aug 2010 11:30

SOB part query In the process of reverting my '78 R80 back to standard ignition, I've discovered that the optical pick-up at the camshaft of the aftermarket electronic ignition came with it's own rotating backplate. So I'm in need of one of the original backplates, the one that has the points attached to it, and which is rotat... 9 Aug 2010 19:05

Goodbye JANET Usenet X-No-Archive: Regulars here will know me as Andy Clews from the University of Sussex. What do you do when you're restoring an old bike? Buy a second one, of course. I want to get to grips with the project TS250 before the end of the summer, and in the past I've found that having a second bike, as a donor and for showing you what bolts onto where and how when you're reassembling the thing and have forgotten to photograph the vital bits (ahem), is... 1 Aug 2010 19:15

Two Vincent sightings in the last week I overtook one on the Aprilia a few days ago on the A14, and saw one this morning in Black Bear HD's car park as I was taking T to nursery. Commando Top Yoke Originals were painted silver. I think the material is malleable iron, like cast iron but can bend rather than snap. There used to be aftermarket aluminium alloy cast yokes for earlier Norton twins, and I think for Commandos too, which have greater spacing between the stanchion tubes. Some Commandos are unusual... 20 Jul 2010 00:35
