Yep. Plus, the monarch cannot be prosecuted. He or she is 'above' the
law, as prosecutions are made in his or her name; not in the name of the
people. And David Cameron had to wait for permission from the Queen to
become PM.

Whether these powers are 'honorary' or not is irrelevant. No country
calling itself a 'democracy' should have powers vested in the head of an
unelected, hereditary élite. No country calling itself a 'democracy'
should have the head of its (elected) executive obliged to call at the
Palace once a week, or once a fortnight, to account for his or her actions,
and to share sensitive information on defence or policing, with someone who
has lived on state hand-outs all his or her life and who has never been
subject to election.

The UK has a lot to recommend it. But it is a class-ridden police state
whose subjects have no 'rights'; only privileges.

Well that's the BBC's interpretation. AIUI they specifically mention
the items in question, rather than just leaving it general.

Can't find it right now, so who knows. But in any event I don't think
