If it was good enough for my MGB, why not?

Went over a bump one day and one of the two batteries was dragging
on the tarmac, hanging from its cables. The steel support straps
had rusted through. At that time I determined that putting a single
12V battery in the trunk was probably the best option since a new 6V
battery without a hole in the corner cost more than a 12V one...

The one in this picture is not 100%, the indicators should be in the bar
ends handy for when you bin it. But it is otherwise a reasonable
