I quite fancy setting up a small security system. We're thinking three or
four wireless webcams feeding to a dedicated flatscreen, mounted on the
wall behind my main monitor, here. Ability to split screen into four, to
keep all cameras visible, or if required, concentrate on one. > 640 x 480.

Some software which would be able, for example, to ignore movement most of
the time (i.e. feed it 'dumbly' to the monitor), but programmable so that
say, after midnight and before six am, any movement would trip the system,
and be able to sftp the images or footage to a remote site (although _in
extremis_, I could do that on my own in shell).

Mac compatible, obviously although if need be, I could pick up a cheap
Windows box.

Any ideas?
