We were somewhere around Barstow, on the edge of the desert, when the
drugs began to take hold. I remember Paul Carmichael
<wibbleypants(a)gmail.com> saying something like:

Nerve damage often heals, but slowly. Sometimes it doesn't heal and you
just have to grin and bear it.
I had sciatica a few years ago and the sciatic nerve is still sensitive.
Subsequent to that, I strained a nerve in my groin (cba to look it up)
and that was utterly crippling for a couple of weeks, but cleared up
enough to be back at work in three, but tender for months afterwards. So
yes, probably nothing to worry about.

The name of the nerve. I'd never known it was there, but it runs across
the underside. Which ties in nicely with the cause of the injury -
spending too long kneeling astride a pipe with each knee on a slightly
too far apart joist.
It was painful enough I had to pack in the job and drive home - problem
was, every two miles or so the pain was unendurable and I had to stop,
get out and find a position where the inflammation wasn't quite to
intense, then drive again. Had no choice.

AIUI it's just crosstalk in the nerve fibres.
