You need a locking pin kit for a start. Then you need to set to TDC on NO.1, there's a plug in the crankcase (front, just above the AC pump if it has one), where you need to bung a pin in, and rest the crank against it. Then there's one to go in the camshaft, and IIRC a mark on the crank pulley to line up. It's been a while now. If you need to borrow the kit, I have one here if you can't get one nearer. -- Andy Hewitt <http://web.me.com/andrewhewitt1/>

I remember R C Nesbit <spam(a)ukrm.net> saying something like: >Anyone wivva clue about these motors? >Or a Haynes BOL? I do. >Need to find out how to do valve timing. How urgent? My scanner's offline.

Yes, we'd kind of sussed that via google. > Then you need to set to TDC on NO.1, there's a plug in the crankcase > (front, just above the AC pump if it has one), where you need to bung a > pin in, and rest the crank against it. I'll check out local purchases. We *think* he may be a jammy sod and not done any damage. Camshaft is OK, and no sign of broken bits so far. -- Rob_P UKRM(at)indqualtec.co.uk uppercase(d) BBIWYMC#1 BOG#11?
