I didn't like the trivialization of the American Revolution being
about a tax on tea.

While my ancestors were among the men who attended the event no known
as "the Boston Tea Party," there are other, far more important issues
involved.

One of those little discussed issues was the British decree of 1763?
that the colonies could not expand westward across the Appalachians
into the Ohio Territory after the American colonial militias had
helped the British force the French and their Indian allies out in
1759.

The British then turned around and allied themselves with the savage
Indian tribes, which is mentioned in the Declaration of Independence.

George Washington was a member of the Virginia militia and my
ancestors were in the Massachusetts militia.

Washington attended a meeting of the revolutionaries dressed in his
blue militia uniform and was appointed to lead the rebel army.

However, his motive in life had always been to attain rank and
increase his holdings of land.

If the British had been willing to grant him the title of Duke of Ohio
and give him vast lands, he would have remained loyal to England...

Agree somewhat with the trivalization of the revolution. From a
political
standpoint however, the video is effective. (Don't expect much
historical
knowledge in the body politic or cultural.)

Bottam line; America was founded in political violence and conflicts
of
interest. As the economy will continue to decline we may anticipate
increasing angst.
