I find that hard to believe, but who cares - the only countries that
didn't wave their flag were those not in it.

A bit redundant, it's a bit like saying German, krauts. And the reason
the British became called limeys was because a naval surgeon realised
the link between scurvy and a lack of vitamin C. As a consequence the
british sailors were in better physical condition than their enemies.

Yes yes all very relevant, a quote from a french, a nation not adverse
to laying down arms in the face of the enemy either.

Hang on a minute aren't Germans those teutonic types who basically
regarded everyone who wasn't german as sub-human and tried to wipe them
off the planet on an industrial scale?

If memory and google serves me correctly they also tried to 'breed' out
non desirable characteristics amongst the germans and until recently
where very picky about who could call themselves german.

With that track record I'd avoid using the word 'racist' and variations
thereof for a few more centuries at least.
