But the problem is the eco-grenie-freaks would be afraid to sink the whaler for fear of poluting the sea... :)

It is truly heart-warming the degree to which this group-nonspecific slur is becoming adopted in recent years. Brain tells a beautiful story about bombing around out in his cigarette boat on some lake and passing a summer camp out of the city kind of deal when one of the kids fell out of the barely sea-worthy boat. He swung over to help and while exercising great seamanship and compassion for the man-overboard, directed his crew to "be careful you don't hit the raggie". Apparently, the young man was climbing aboard behind him at that very moment whereupon he was offered a free cigarette. Check this out sometime: http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=raggie&defid=2030984 Fricking hilarious war between Norfolk and Torrington. Look at some of the example sentences... epic! I'm not sure when the term hit NW CT, but someone sent me that link a few years ago and it's grown quite a bit since then. Sometime I'll add my version which came to life during the LA riots.
