I am not justifying the described behavior of the Hispanic community at all - it is disgusting - but except for the scale of the damage, how is it different than what wealthy European stock have done to the land after strip and pit mining, adit mining, timber clearcutting, overgrazing, urban sprawling, polluting, radiating and dustbowling various thousands of square miles to death? No group of humans is immune to the urge to ruin what it touches for its own selfish purpose and then blithely walk away. It takes a matured and educated society to self-police. Everyone needs to be taught to be responsible. When we "Europeans" learn and stop living in glass houses, then we can throw stones. Bruce Jensen

Bruce Jensen Comparing apples to oranges only leads to confusion, Bruce. If you compare the "cleanliness" of any major American city (except, perhaps, East L.A.) to any major Mexican city, there really is no comparison. They throw their shitty toilet paper in a box, on the floor, for chrissakes! What these invaders don't seem to comprende is that the things they are all enjoying here don't spring out of special American dirt. This is white culture, and if they were to trade all of Mexico for all of America, white folks would have Mexico looking like America does now inside of 20 years. Conversely, Mexicans would have this country looking like a bunch of Mexican villages in about 2 years. There is plenty of evidence to back this up. Just look at the parts of any major city in America they dominate. In case you never noticed, it was white culture that started the trend about 40 years ago to have less children (which, in case it doesn't dawn on you, taxes the precious earth far less!) and to begin taking a more careful look at the "environment". Every group on earth is guilty of trashing the earth to some extent, but it was white culture that took stock of it all and started to address things. It is also white (and some Asian) culture that polices it's trash and keeps up it's parks and public areas. Unfortunately, most of us are so ignorant of what actually constitutes damage to our planet, that the attention for it all is spread thinly over what is mostly bullshit, and the areas of genuine concern go lacking. You make an excellent point about a "mature, and educated society", but compared to Mexico, there is not even a hint of a contest there.

It's not peculiar to any one political persuasion, interest group or race - almost anyone can be, and sometimes is, guilty of this error. I know I have been. I'm descended directly from the Englishman who was the first elected official of the Massachusetts Bay colony. His 4 great grandson somehow got connected with an exile from the Scottish highlands in Pennsylvania, where the highlanders were sent to form a buffer between the established English colonists. Other Scots emigrated to the Carolinas, where they thought they'd be accepted because of their support of king Charles, but they were told they could eat dirt or starve. The exiled highlander in Pennsylvania was my 3 great grandfather and my line of descent is a cross between exiled Scots and rich Yankees. The Scots were thought to be too uncouth for association with the English, but that was no different from the way they were treated ever since the Norman/French and their English allies invaded Scotland in the 14th century under command of Edward Longshanks. The Covenanters signed an oath in their own blood to support king Charles and he agreed to support presbyterianism, but reneged upon the offer. The Scots Covenanters were the original "red necks." They wore a piece of red cloth around their necks to signify their loyalty to king and covenant. But thousands of Covenanters were murdered by the allies of the Church of England. Sir Walter Scott wrote a book about the killings, it's called "Old Mortality." My red neck Covenanter ancestor emigrated to western Pennsylvania too... Watch what you say! "Piker" is what the poor red necks were called when they moved across the west looking for homestead land. They could see Pikes peak from the flatlands of Kansas and knew they were getting close to a place they thought they could settle down. My great grandfather was a "piker" who settled his family in Colorado and I still have lots of relatives there. "Pikers" who arrived in California's central valley 100 years ago tried to live like they'd lived in Appalachia, Kentucky and Tennessee.
