I'm most pleased with OpenSolaris on this little Toshiba [1]. Here's one I
prepared earlier..

Only 'problem' I can see so far is the 1GB of RAM it came with, isn't
enough: I'll often try to open an application, and it'll just ignore me
[2].

Other than that, it rocks a fat one.

Dunno what that means, but after all that upgrading and re-installing the
apps that said upgrade removed, the camera doesn't work with the new
Skype.

And the whole system runs like a dog.

Before you "upgrade" next time, make an image backup of your hard
disk to an external drive, using Clonezilla. That way no matter what
happens you can simply revert back to *exactly* where you started with
a minimum of fuss. Or get a 2nd internal hard drive. The Clonezilla
method is far less hassle than removing and replacing internal laptop
hard drives.
