A long time ago we had a discussion here about the "eyes" that a few
Japanese riders had on their helmets.

I thought it stated with the late World Superbike racer, Yasu Nagai but
someone here (maybe Toosmoky?) said that it was an earlier rider they were
copying.

Rockit put me onto a book called "Ring of Fire" and while it's about the
most disjointed book I've ever read, it's also full of fascinating snippets
about the GP world, Rossi and Mike Hailwood. It also talks a bit about John
'Mooneyes' Cooper and his distinctive helmet decoration:
