Yup, just a short ride but after a long friggin winter even a short
ride felt good.

A buddy and I rode to Black Diamond for a bite to eat. Nothing too
ambitious, maybe 150 miles round trip. The weather was great. Lots of
bikes on the road and lots of smiling faces. We dropped by Bragg Creek
on the way back. Bragg Creek is like a huge show and shine most summer
weekends. I have seen over 200 bikes in the mall parking lot on a
sunny Sunday. Not that many today, maybe 40 or 50, but everyone was
saying the same thing, it's great to be riding again.

You folks from warmer climates probably can't relate, but there is
nothing more exhilarating than being on the road, on two wheels, after
six months of abstinence.

It was a good day.

What happened to looking at that CB750 this weekend?

I am trying to avoid doing that. If I look at it I will end up buying
it.

I think I am better off riding.

Some things have changed since I was there. This one is
an obvious improvement. I feel like I almost miss the place!
Hopefully I'll get a chance to visit your area soon.

ps. I'm trying (without much success) to imagine a paved version
of the Forestry Trunk Road. It almost seems like cheating
(what, no gravel and dust?) Oh well, all that asphalt they
dredge up in the Tar Sands, I guess they have to put it somewhere.

pps. Once I rode my Honda S90 over a mountain pass from
Bragg Creek to the Kananaskis Lakes area. It wasn't even
a dirt road, just a horse trail. Now I suppose there's
an 8-lane freeway over the same route. Where's the sense
of adventure when there's too much civilization?

Concur. I took the Dnepr to New Westminster today. But I can't
get anywhere on the thing without people coming up and asking
about it. Today I met two guys from Belarus. They were really
surprised to see one in Canada. One of them had ridden one
just like it back home.
