It's best to put the past behind you, not agonize about what may
happen in the future, and live in the present moment, eschewing
discursive thought.

However, when I was younger, I used to wonder exactly *why* I was
involved in this or that activity.

I wondered where my ideas *came from*. I asked a friend, and he was
baffled about the question. He said, "Who cares?"

So I studied the writings of highly intelligent men who understood the
origin of the ego and the personality.

It turns out that the ego and a person's self esteem and goals are not
inherent, they are a construct of the realization that one is an
individual and trying to rejoin the rest of the human race by adopting
the *opinions* of others that one regards as "experienced."

People get all the calcium they need from a balanced diet. Bones
need to feel stress in order to stay strong. Work 'em!
