Never having been that far on a bike, I fantasize about riding Old US
Route 66 to that terminus. There are newbies who have rented their
first Harley in Chicago and done that with a tour group. Of course,
by the time they get to California, they are old hands. Judging from
their trip reports I suppose they are depressed by the traffic they
encounter in the last few miles. I understand none of the old
alignments of US 66 remain, but you must have been over or near the
route used by motorcycle tour groups to the sea.
