I've been thinking about that a lot since this thread was started.

> Or was it the other way around?

I suppose it depends on your perspective. It seemed like he ran into me, but
I'll bet he feels that I ran into him. He's wrong, of course...
I'll just point out that I was climbing up out of a creek crossing in the
shade, and just as I was getting to the point that I could see ahead down
the trail, Mark appeared out of nowhere going about 60 mph and took me out.
OK, so he was probably only going about 15 and braking for the creek, but in
the nanosecond that we were within sight of each other before impact, it
sure seemed like he was going 60. Perspective-wise, it probably seemed to
Mark like I was coming out of that creek crossing as fast as anyone ever
rode a bike off road.
I felt really, really lucky then to get away with just some damaged plastic
and bruises. This thread has made me relive those feelings of luck. I'll bet
Mark has thought about it once or twice too; probably wishes he had run into
someone that understood the finer points of head-on collisions as well as I
do : ) .

Oh my, does that story bring back memories.
Much like my crash back in Sept. 06 that I wrote
about in the "Western Mini fest @ KM" thread.
That feeling of being able to wiggle your toes and
stiff feel everything (down there). But the distinct
feeling that not everything is still connected all the same.

Best wishes for a speedy and FULL recovery.

On thing I remember the EMT telling me was that.
If I had broken my Femer and not the Tibula. I would
be taking a helocopter ride to the ER and not sitting
in the back of a van chewing Vocodines for the 2 1/2
hour drive to the hospital.

I can't post there anymore. I believe they didn't like something I
said... :) If you know the history of how that board got started...
it's a bit ironic. :)
