It's a lovely place. Well, the northern end I visited is. If you are north
of Split then go to the Plitvik National Park: it's a UNESCO World Heritage
Site and just a delightful place to spend a day. If you are down near
Dubrovnik then it's probably too far for a day trip.

It's probably just the oil-pressure switch. :-)
You can imagine all sorts of new engine noises when they fail.
