From: MikeWhy on 10 Nov 2009 16:16 There's something about guns and motorcycles. Folks hit you up with the "I ride, too" line when you're gassing up, finishing off the coffee, or just waiting on your partner to finish her smoke. My wife must look much more approachable than I, but that's her cross to bear. You wouldn't believe the number of unrestored Triumphs and Nortons hidden away in barns and lofts I've overheard told. There must be billions in the Midwest alone, at least 10x what was ever produced. What brings this up? The UPS guy just had to comment on how the .40 S&W is his favorite cartridge too, when he got the load up to my door. A case probably feels and rattles a bit different from the usual smiley boxes they pack into the trucks. I guess I would look at the printed box also, just to see what the heck it was. He demurred when I invited him to join me at the range Saturday. "I shoot, too", I belatedly translated as he trudged back to his truck. That's cool, I guess. It's far better than the alternative, some well meaning and equally unheartfelt moralizing about how motorcycles kill and how dangerous these other things can be. It probably means nothing more than some passerby cheerily calling out "Catch any?" to the fisherman.
