And here I was thinking it was merely a fallacy that women think "bigger is
better."

You've disillusioned me entirely, Betty :-(

sorry Bob, petal....<snigger>

It's not that Bigger is Better (well, typographically speaking it IS... but
I won't say a word beyond that!) but I'd just like to know who set the
bloody text trends recently that made "weenily undoable" the default! Who
the hell came up with the new text sizing regime? Bastards!

Some people need to get their mind to work at a level above their navel.
Think that I'm right on this one... Venturas are not welded with whatever
variation of welding machine? They are bronzed. Very thin walled tube.
Would need a good operator and I'm sure that there are experts out there who
would know why; I've been told (often!) but can't remember.

It's the damned youngsters, who else?

I suspect (I won't go into detail on precisely why I do) that the present
batch of marketing/press people out in force (those in their mid-20s) spent
a lot of time at home as teenagers trying to get their computers to look 'n
feel like impressive machines, and modified their default typeface sizes to
such tiny proportions as to allow eight windows to be simultaneously visible
on their screen.

The proper thing to do of course would be to get a 23"+ monitor running at
1600x1200 (or higher) resolution, but then not all teenagers have parents
who're both rich _and_ stupid.

That trend though, the love of absolutely diminutive type sizes, has stayed
with them into early adulthood, and now that they're in positions of control
and influence, they're projecting those preferences onto the greater
community.

Ummm... What was the original topic again? :-/

<Rex Harrison impersonation>
"I think he's got it
By George he's got it!"

Oh Bob, I do think you are fabulous! You are probably as long/short-sighted
as I am!!!!!! (but you have such brilliant explanations of the status quo!
Those kids have such a lot to bloody answer for!) I can't remember what the
hell it was that we started talking about, but gee you seemed to make such
eloquent sense at the time......

betty, throwing short/long-sighted hugs
somewhere in Bob's general direction
