Tire time
I've used Pilot Powers and Bridgestone BT-021s. This time I going with Conti Road Attacks. I don't have much need for "performance", this time I am going for longevity. Is there a longer lasting sport bike tire I should consider? Heck I'd consider a dual sport tire if it would last longer. After all I've b... 26 Mar 2010 00:23

2WD idea
<thinking> ... I wonder if I could design and build a 2WD system for Dnepr#2 that is simpler than the Ural arrangement using a special differential ... how about 3 rear sprockets. The inner one (#1) would be driven by chain from the transmission as usual. The outer rear sprocket (#2) drives a 2nd chain which driv... 20 Mar 2010 15:33

The Dragon is closed
Yeah, you've heard it before. This time it's true. For a while. There's a rock slide blocking 129 a couple of miles north of Tabcat bridge. The rock slide is not on the part of 129 normally known as the Dragon but it blocks all northern access to the Dragon. Southern access is blocked by a gate at the state l... 30 Mar 2010 21:54
Leather conditioning and reconditioning
OK, I have chased the demons inside me that have been encouraging me to take on a new bike project, deciding instead to focus on the many projects currently on my plate. With the weather improving I just brought the XJ6 out of storage and for the next little while I will exorcise those demons by working on the J... 19 Mar 2010 21:19
When was the last time
you had a flat tire? Cage or bike? The last 2 I remember: High School, my first car, a Dodge Demon, damn spare was for a Chevy, had to be rescued. Never on a mosickle, most recent was on my mountain bike (years ago) 3 within in one hour. Otherwise, never. So why do I carry a flat repair kit on the F4i? Seems... 21 Mar 2010 16:17
Spring Ride...
Looking forward to about 2,200 ~ 2,400 miles of riding in the near future. Last year was possibly my lowest mileage year since my first year riding, in 1978. This year I plan to correct that. I aleady enjoyed a nice 1,100 mile jaunt from SC to St. Augustine, FL, in the Daytona Beach vicinity, and back to SC. L... 29 Mar 2010 22:35
