Was the lifting handle ever a standard fitment?, I thought they were
an optional accessory, neither of my bikes has one.

If its as good as it looks it would be a keeper. Pity I have too many
bikes and no available cash at the moment.

Standard fitment, yes. Some people think they were pillon grab handles,
but they were only ever fitted to the left-hand side of the bike, and
they were for lifting the thing onto the centre stand.

They went missing because people put racks on the bikes, which meant
removing the handles, and then they just got beamed up.
