New mobo? > More RAM Well, I got new mobo, more, better, RAM, and a new heatsink/fan. Plonked it all in, wired it up, and Win7 refuses to load. It does its little diagnostics nonsense for ages, then says it has no solutions. BIOS wilfully ignores CD/DVD drive, too. Does it matter which SATA channel drives are plugged into? -- SD on the laptop.
