I can recommend http://fat.ly/0qtgc for reading aus.motorcycles (or any
other aus. newsgroup). It has free registration, a better user interface
than Google, better updates, and allows you to mark messages as "read".
It'll work from pretty much any internet terminal, too.

The only thing it seems to be missing is a "search" function, but I can
live with that.

eh? the search function is 100% functional. There's link to "advanced
search" on the top right when you're on the topic list. Far superior to
the google groups search which has been broken for many months.
And kudos to you for using a link shortener to create a longer link than
the original :)
