I got a infringment notice for a camera detected offence in ACT.

$157 & 1 point.

Do the crime pay the fine I say however...

It says I was doing 91kmh in an 80knh zone.
On a DR650 that would be about 96-98kmh on the speedo.
Basically I read this as sugegsting that I was doing 100kmh in a 80kmh
zone.
I may have.
But not intentionally.
I know but....
My question is...

Is there any bad signage or faulty detection equipment I should be aware
about on the federal Highway between Zelling St and Anthill St before I pay
this fine apart from one that says 80kmh?

:-P

The camera isn't suggesting anything. It accurately recorded you doing
91km/h in an 80 zone. Your extrapolation to conclude that someone is
suggesting you had nearly 100km/h on your speedo isn't logical. FYI the
legislated degree of accuracy of all speed measuring cameras in the ACT
is 2km/h, and all of the fixed cameras point at the rear number plate.

The zone you describe is correctly signposted with 80k signs at most
intersections as well as one at each end of the zone. I don't recall
seeing a sign at the Zelling Street intersection, but I presume you
aren't trying to tell us you came out of Zelling Street.

Assuming you were northbound, then you were nabbed by a fixed camera, and
the fixed camera that nabbed you is preceded by several signs. According
to TAMS:

" The mid block cameras use a set of three signs on the approach to the
camera site which show “Speed Camera 24 hours” at a 300 to 500 metres
distance to the camera, “Speed Camera Ahead” at 150 to 250 metres, and
“Heavy Fines Loss of Licence” at 50 to 100 metres to the camera. These
signs are of a size similar to that used in NSW, and include a camera
symbol and the posted speed limit. "

You got done, there's no escape clause, just pay the fine. FYI if you
return to the ACT by the same route there is another fixed speed camera
(similarly preceded by warning signs) in the opposite direction just
before the Antill Street roundabout.

Agreed.

I was suggesting it and it is. Let me explain. 91 + 2kmh accuracy leeway
+ 5 kmh my DR650 speedo is slow..... that would be 98kmh on my speedo.

In the UK I think they have it down to 1kmh and can hide them in stuff
like speed humps and traffic cones.

That kind of sucks.
The ones that point at the front makes more sense so the camera has a
chance of catching the rego sticker as well as the persons face. ;-)

Actually I may have though this shouldnt matter.
I stopped off in our capital to see a mate.
Near the war memorial.

All good but guessing by the time it could have been southbound... it
isn't clear on the notice.

It's not the speed camera in the area signs I was asking about but the
speed zones. If it is a 80kmh zone (as it sounds by other replies ) then
I must pay.

You are right.

I think this may have been the one that snapped me but I can only guess
this by the time.

I am not a 100% sure what camera it was though I guess the tsk tsk is in
order
