Heh, it could comical 'purdy quick! How much harder would it be than kickstarting a 450cc MX'er? They're running a claimed 12.3 compression, stock.

They're not really easy either, especially not when hot and with the carbon brakes in MGP I'm thinkin' those motors would be warm too. In any event and no matter how cool an idea, or how funny it could get, it ain't gonna happen...

Sure, but they also have quite fancy engine management and even engine braking systems. So it'd keep the throttle plate fully open and fuel injectors off until you pushed it up to ten miles an hour, you jump on top, it ramps the throttle closed and gives it some gas and off you go. It's not the 80s any more. -jake

Maybe, short of doing a bike/rider minimum weight rule instead of bike- only minimum weight, we could have minimum rider weight and girth measurements in WSBK (real world-based racing) and anything goes in Moto GP... :)

And he rode 500's when they had been made much less fierce than the 80's Yeah I'm sure that with a bit of wizard work you could get the current bikes to bump start. But as they sit right now you can't very easily. You noticed the start carts that are universal now? Nobody bumps their MotoGP to life, even the mechanics don't bother |
