A bearing journal is a pretty oily place, by design :) In my limited experience I've usually used assembly lube and confined it to the actual bearing area. Once everything's together, spin the engine for a good while with the starter with the ignition disabled to make sure the oil pump gets primed and all the bearings have oil to them before attempting to start it. > Christ, 35lb/ft is some torque. All my other bikes that happen to use the same size sump plug, regardless of make, are spec'd in the ~14 ft-lb range, which makes me wonder why Yamaha continue to get it wrong. Just one of those things where experience is an invaluable asset. |
