I found that the air filter on the S&S I'd been looking for was a simple UNI
filter, sold at the local dealer for 17 bucks. After lubing one up and
installing it, I've been getting an occasional puddle of gas under the bike.
Now, I don't know, or even think the two are related, so I'm just throwing
the bit about the filter in for completeness.

Get yourself a round on me.

I'm thinking bowl float problem, causing fuel to exit the overflow pipe, and
since I'm a good doobie, I turn off the petcock, so all I get out, is what's
in the pipeline.

The questions is, what's likely going on, and how to cure it?

I should also point out, that I have had the carb off the bike in the not so
distant past, and I've had the bowl off on a different diagnostic a year or
so ago. Bowl and float looked clean (although the accelerator pump plunger
rod is kinda crusty looking after 17 years).

Thanks in advance for your thoughts....

Thanks George.
Got that problem in the on position, which motivates me to assure it's in
the off position.

This is definitely something more serious. Happens in a matter of minutes to
an hour (after walking away of course), when it does happens, and only after
the bike has been run for a while, maybe 3 out of 10 times. I'm gonna go
with Big Ben's thought and inspect the inlet needle.

I do need to replace the petcock for the on position drippage though. It's
on my "todo on a rainy day when I'm not being lazy" list.
