I suspect most are a "sunny summer Sunday afternoon" bike for people
to pootle on.

John at MotoCiclio tells me has has some owners who do commute
regularly on theirs and who give them a fairly hard time but the bikes
seem to cope. Most do seem to be low mileage weekend bikes though.

I haven't visited much lately, but I do seldom see them in for service
or for any major work. (The one from Canberra with the broken
manifold and the choke on permanently to compensate is the only one I
can think of that needed anything major, and I'm not sure you can
blame the bike for that!).

I got a Suzuki 250 for my ex-wife about 12 years ago.

Bloody good swap.
