Am I being too optimistic ?. I never had that many watchers, but it all happened towards the end of the auction when I sold my Sprint ST. I never had a reserve though. -- Chris

Am I being too optimistic ?. You have used the wrong approach. 99p start and no reserve would have been likely to get bargain-hunters interested. Once several people start bidding then there is enough competition to get the price up to market level. Every bike that I have sold on ebay in this way has exceeded the minimum that I would have been willing to accept - and one or two have fetched well above what I thought would be their maximum. On the contrary, when buying I have tended to look for bikes with a high starting price (but below what I want to pay) because there is always less competition. Currently you only have two bidders and the reserve price still hasn't been exceeded. I would only consider bidding in an auction like this if the item was something I particularly wanted and there was little liklihood of one appearing again in the forseeable future. There are probably plenty of punters who might fancy a nice-looking Bantam but who aren't particularly looking for your model and who will be put off by the high start price and no guarantee that their bid will exceed the reserve. -- Tony '04 Ducati ST3, '08 DL650GT, 97 TW200, '87 semi-rat LS650, OMF#24 --- news://freenews.netfront.net/ - complaints: news(a)netfront.net ---

If there is any justice in this world it should make around 1100. OTOH Bantams are mainly collectors items for oldphrarts on a pension so prices tend to be fairly low. -- 03 GS500K2 76 Honda 400/4 project, 78 400/4 in black 68 Bantam D14/4 Sport (Classic) 06 Sukida SK50QT (Slanty eyed shopping trolley) |
