Ah. He'd be over 60, and was a craftsman rather than a flogger. I knew him after his main riding exploits were over. He taught me how to weld with oxy-acetylene, but I couldn't ever dream of reaching his standard of proficiency. Would *YOU* even think of taking a B34 (Gold Star) crankcase half which had had a rod through it, leaving it in three pieces, broken from circumference to mains? After welding, he mic'd it up, and it was still within maker's tolerances... -- Rusty
