It was getting late for the to return, and we had already started eating gumbo. I kept putting off leaving to look for them, hoping that they would return on their (and Jerry's) own, since I didn't know what route he had taken them on.. Finally, after eating my share of the gumbo, I started getting back into my riding gear. Just about the time I straddled my bike, here came Jerry and the "lost ones". Boy, was I relieved! Jerry (Opie) said that they just didn't want to quit, and when he finally got them headed back toward camp, things kept going wrong. He kept having to go back and find stragglers from the group (in the dark). Jerry's quotes describing that ride back to camp: "Jim, I'm glad to see ya'll again. Getting them back to camp was like herding cats, or... nailing jello to a tree." Good Riding! Jim Wudsracer/Jim Cook Smackover Racing '06 Gas Gas DE300 '82 Husqvarna XC250 Team LAGNAF |
