I didn't like them either. I thought they looked like they were about

They're a bit like Elvis: the styling is way overdone. The 750 with the
pop-up headlight was better, but it still looked a bit Gerry Anderson.

Err no, I can't join you in that camp. They (the MVs) are among very
few visual stylings that I feel are actually worthwhile. Right up
there with the 916/996 IMO.
