Flat performance question
Apparently most bike street tubless tires are designed to stay on the rim if they go flat, a few aren't. In the sense that you can hobble along at walking speed for quite a way and not wreck the rim. The tire will be hooped, but at least it stays on the rim and the rims OK. I had a link once to a table giving ... 18 Nov 2009 10:07
Charging System Questions
I am now well equipped with TWO repair manuals and a full toolbox and a Positive Mental Attitude. Time to go to work....... I was watching the dimming of the headlight on my Kawie as I engaged the starter. The headlight is hard-wired to the "ON" position and is always illuminated when the key is turner to the r... 29 Nov 2009 04:47
Changing crank seals on an RD-400
My 77 RD-400 needs new crank seals. I have the factory service manual, but its procedures assume a complete teardown is required, and goes into the detail necessary to completely dissasemble engine & trans. I'm wondering if I can get by with substantially less dissasembly. Anyone done one of these lately? Can... 16 Nov 2009 14:43
Best tires for a metric cruiser?
OK- I gotta buy new tires for my Kawasaki Mean Streak 1600. I heard nothing but bad news for the OEM Dunlop radials that it came with, although I have had no particular problems with them. Since these damn things are so expensive anyway, I want to get the best tires for my bike, SO WHAT BRAND/MODEL OF RADIAL ... 16 Nov 2009 10:12

I did manage to change the tire and the bike is up and running! This ole hoss breaks down all the time due to age and if something is running right then a little speed and vibration is all it takes to make something start leaking oil or gas or air out of the tires. I now have my choice, should I change the chain... 11 Nov 2009 06:51
Clutch noise?
Older CBR600, lo-miles. Engine warm, accelerate up hill, maybe 35 mph, in 3rd gear. Reach top, dis-engage clutch, coast down hill in 3rd. with clutch lever actuated. When I hunker down, I can hear a sort-of growling/grinding noise. This is "normal operating noise" for a bike with a wet clutch? Willie ... 20 Nov 2009 18:02

This is fun. I simply ask the technical questions and the rest of you good souls log on and start swearing.... 1st: I just used Slime and if you use the recommended amount then it WILL NOT cause an imbalance. 2nd: The Slime treatment did not seal the leak this time and I will replace the tire, look around ins... 13 Nov 2009 17:50
