Battery Water.
'83 Honda VT500C Shadow. IN hot weather, the battery goes dry in about 500 miles. To put in water, I have to take off the seat, remove the battery, fill it, reverse the process. PITA. It's my garage sale bike, so it does sit idling a lot while I'm browsing. The battery does get a workout. Anything I can d... 4 Aug 2010 11:27
Pilot air screw with a cross-drilled hole?
What is the correct name for a pilot air screw with a cross drilled hole in it? These were used on Mikuni VM carburetors 30 years ago... AIR, once the screw was turned out about 2.5 ~ 3.0 turns, the cross- drilled hole by-passed air and made the mixture as lean as the pilot jet would allow... ... 16 Jul 2010 01:18

Seems every cross reference has different numbers. I have NGK DR8EA in my bikes. Crosses to Champion Z9Y or RA6HC or RA8YC. WHich is it??? All of them? Also get AC S102F, Autolite 2796. They don't seem to stock NGK's around here any more. -- LSMFT I haven't spoken to my wife in 18 months. I don't l... 10 Jul 2010 10:34

I need advice re: drive chain
My chain is stretched on my 1979 CB 650. I bought a new one online, but since I could not find exact replacements for the OEM specs I thought I had figured out one that would apply -- I read as much about it as I could find online and waded through the multitude of chain choices, but I obviously still lack unde... 6 Jul 2010 11:13
Custom fitting a steering damper
My Magna-sidecar rig needs a damper to stop a bad steering wobble between 10 and 60 km/hr. I bought a used damper with a 3" travel but am having trouble fitting it to the bike. There's no place anywhere I can find to locate it by direct attachment. So after futzing around a while and making measurements I came ... 2 Jul 2010 15:48

[help] Working with bike materials
Hi, I'm a newbie with only moderate mechanical skills and resources. I'm restoring a bent '05 Triumph Thruxton and fixing up a '94 Magna V45 with a sidecar. As usual, I need to modify some materials (rarely does anything I have, buy or scrounge ever bolt right on without some futzing and tweaking). (1) I have... 28 Jun 2010 22:48

I wrote in a forum... If you just want the spark plug deposits to be a little lighter, change to the next hotter spark plug.
