I use one of these: http://www.planetbuff.com/pages.php?cID=4&pID=35

works well as a neck sock, beanie, or balaclava. very thin so fits
under the lid easily, but quite warm.

They come in a wide variety of lurid designs...

Buffs are great, all year round. Keep my neck warm in winter and kept
diesel fumes and smog out of your lungs in India. I think Peter was
using the Tooks for the built in speakers. Problem with wearing
something like a woollen beanie on your head under your helmet in winter
is that when winter is over, your helmet lining will be too compressed
to be worn comfortably.

I use a neck sock but have yet to get it wet in the rain.
Your right Nev, it is the speakers that got my attention, with the
headband.

Total cost deliverd was just under $50.
Not cheap considering but they are built a little tougher than standard
ear buds and are a lot more comfortable... time will tell though.

I'll tell you on Thursday if I make it to Sydney alive. Oh, why does
my grapefruit have to have her birthday during this week's scheduled
downpour?

But my impression was that they wouldn't act as a noise cancelling
device at all, which is why I have ear plugs (with earphones in them.
Now I just need to get an mp3 player).
