From: apoljuga on 14 Mar 2007 08:24 Hi, please can you recommend oil for the ZX9R C2. I'm thinking about Silkolene Comp 4 10W40 or MOTUL 5100 10W40. Kawasaki in service manual recommend 10W40 or 10W50 oil. Is semi synthetic good enough for normal road use. Also found on the google that Silkolene maybe improves gearbox performances. Thanks! Cheers, Alen

Hmmm didn't know that. Now I know what to look. Found that on '99 Kawasaki recalled bikes to oil change (Silkolene) to decrease this problems. People said it helps. I just bought bike and on first 100 miles found 1 false neutral. I'm not worried but if I can improve this with some oil why not.

Blimey, I get it on mine, and figured it was just mine, or me being slack when changing gear. Didn't realise it was endemic. Oh, I use fully synth (not sure of the make), but clearly it doesn't help.

No more so than any other bike, IME. > Found that on '99 > Kawasaki recalled bikes to oil change (Silkolene) to decrease this > problems. Because anything that "allegedly" improves the performance of your gearbox might decrease the performance of something else... your clutch, perhaps. |
