From: Yeebok on 9 Dec 2009 00:43 I had my battery clag and a friend's lent me a trickle charger. (http://www.yankeeroo.com/store/product.php?productid=30332&cat=389&page=1) I've plugged it in and hooked up the cables. The red 'Error check' light comes on. THe battery is a PowerVolt YTX-14-BS which says on the side 12V but the charger's reading it as 6V. I presume I'm doing something wrong, but the 3 cables (power, pos and neg) are in the right spots. If I turn it on without the cables connected to a battery I still get the error check light. Anyone ? :)

The error check light might go out after the battery charge reaches, say, 25%. Just guessing. Does it have a manual? -- Regards Andrew

Just guessing. Does it have a manual? > Thanks for the reply - there was no manual in the box, and I couldn't find one online, so I called Master's Instruments who kindly scanned and sent me a manual. The only changeable setting is the charge rate of 2, 4 or 6 amps. I tried all 3 before I posted but didn't mention it. Turns out the battery contacts needed a bit more of a clean. Once I scuffed them up with some sandpaper all was lovely. In this case the error check light was a "why am I on and not connected to something?" indicator.

I would hand it back to your friend as the lights are still on without a battery connected, telling your friend it was like that when you first connected it . If the lights did not come on without a battery, I would suggest checking the leads were connected to the right terminal But, as you say, it happens while unconnected. Take it back and invest in a solar trickle charger to leave connected when it is out the back
