Been going to Locke's Motorcycle Tyre Service in Townsville for 24 years
now. Fits tyres and static balances for free, removes any corrosion from
wheels while he's at it, always good service, always a flawless job.

Yeah I seem to be in the minority but I've never had any trouble with them

That'd be what, six or eight months at your current tire consumption
rate, right Dad?

I gave skidz a call today, the story is that if you pull your own wheels and
take them in, fitting is free. If they have to remove the wheels themselves,
its $35/wheel. I suppose thats not particularly a bad price if you justify
it on the basis of $70/hour for shop time. my shop charges out $80/hour
(engineering) and when you think about it, it would take you more than an
hour to hock up your bike, get out tools, pull both rims, drive to the bike
shop, drop off, come back later pick them up and put them back on. It can
make tyres a more expensive proposition though. Prices i got were;

Metzeler Z6 rear 180/55 17 fitted $330
Metzeler Z6 front 120/70 17 fitted $260

total price comes up to $590. $520 if i pull the wheels off myself. At
that rate, if i get 10,000kms out of the tyres they cost me $5.90/100kms.
pretty close to the cost of fuel!
