But feel free to sign it anyway. http://www.direct.gov.uk/en/TravelAndTransport/Highwaycode/DG_070302 #114 says ... You MUST NOT * use any lights in a way which would dazzle or cause discomfort to other road users, including pedestrians, cyclists and horse riders * use front or rear fog lights unless visibility is seriously reduced. You MUST switch them off when visibility improves to avoid dazzling other road users (see Rule 226) In stationary queues of traffic, drivers should apply the parking brake and, once the following traffic has stopped, take their foot off the footbrake to deactivate the vehicle brake lights. This will minimise glare to road users behind until the traffic moves again. [Law RVLR reg 27] -- Tim

But feel free to sign it anyway. As Tim has pointed out, there is already the facility to prosecute. It is a bit like the mobile phone use while driving farce, no extra legislation is needed, rules/laws already existed. So, what the petition should really be trying to do is get plod to do their job. Alternatively, demand the right to smash said fog lights as you pass :-) -- Bruce Porter XJR1300SP, XJ900F, GSX750W, GSX250, Pegaso 650 Trail POTM#1(KoTL), WUSS#1 , YTC#1(bar), OSOS#2(KoTL) , DS#3 , IbW#18 ,Apostle#8 "The internet is a huge and diverse community and not every one is friendly" http://www.ytc1.co.uk There *is* an alternative! http://www.openoffice.org/

Hi there , Might it not be a good idea to have a petition to change the law such that all fog lights are automatically reset to off, when headlights or ignition are turned off. This would at least stop the useless toss- pots driving with the wretched things on and not know how to turn them off. Ned Ludd
