No, you need to reread what I have written above, because I don't
think I said what you think I said. I never said that noone would
need a tacho. I'm sure there are thousands of people every day who
have the need to buy such a piece of equipment. But the majority of
them will buy a quality instrument. By quality I mean an instrument
which actually measures the engine speed, rather than an iphone app
which guesses it based on audible cues (which may or may not originate
from the engine who's speed is being measured), and even invites the
user to contribute their own guesses so that it can guess the engine
speed more accurately. I would call that a novelty. I say that
relative to other iphone apps, and especially novelty apps, $12 is too
expensive. If it was .99c I would buy it in a flash and measure the
engine speed of everything I could, but not because it was a useful
pursuit...

and I suspect 116,605 of them have motorcycles which are already
equipped with a tachometer which is far more accurate and reliable
than any iphone app. Why would they need another one?

The folk who didn't buy I_Am_Rich, either because they couldn't afford
it, or missed the brief window of opportunity, might well buy a
tachometer app instead.
