If the float has a hole in it, it won't float and therefore it'll be unable to shut off the fuel getting into the carbs. Result? Fuel pouring out of the carb(s) If it's the float valve, then it'll probably be worn to the point where, when it's raised by the float as the carb is filled, it still doesn't shut off the fuel. Both problems are easily fixed by removing the float bowls and having a look inside. -- Beav VN 750 Zed 1000 OMF# 19

If the fuel tap is vacuum operated of by some other means, then it has a problem and should be fixed. If the tank is not rusty, then the fuel inlet valves could be sticking. Running some SeaFoam through it with the gas may cure the problem. If the tank has rust in it, it should be cleaned. Sealing would be a good idea. POR-15 makes a tank sealing kit that works well (I've used it on two tanks). If rust flakes have the valves jammed, then manual cleaning of the carbs will be required. Installing an inline fuel filter would be a good idea. Running SeaFoam through it on a regular basis will help a lot as well. - Nate >> -- "The optimist proclaims that we live in the best of all possible worlds, the pessimist fears this is true."
