Well, if a 15 yo is, why not? This was found in www.wayodd.com/

Teenager Steals Bus, Picks Up Passengers, And Pockets The Cash

A 15-year-old boy was arrested after he stole a bus and began driving a
route and collecting fares from passengers along a public transit route on
Saturday. Authorities said the boy was arrested during incident.

The teenager, Ritchie Calvin Davis, drove the bus from the Central Florida
Fairgrounds in Orlando, where it was pending an auction sale. The bus is
owned by Central Florida Transportation Agency.

Davis told the deputies who arrested him at the scene: "I drove that bus
better than most of the LYNX drivers could," adding, "There isn't a
scratch on it. I know how to start it, drive it, lower it, raise it."

The 15-year-old observed the required speeds and all the stops along the
route. One of the passengers, however, suspicious Davis' boyish looks and
dialed 911. The teenager had two passengers on board when deputies pulled
him over; 12 miles from his departure point.

The teenager has since been charged with auto theft and driving without a
license.

Davis committed a similar offense back in January. He stole a tour bus and
drove passengers around; again, without incident. He was still on
probation from the January incident when he was arrested over the weekend.

Love it. Now that's initiative.

I was licenced to fly aircraft before I was licenced to drive on the
road. I recall getting my certification on a Cherokee Six and had to
have six passengers on board so trooped all my schoolmates along for a
few laps around Lonny airport. Seemed crazy that we all had to be
driven there by parents, but it was OK for my to take up an aircraft
in a pretty busy jet airport. (And if you think Lonny isn't busy,
don't just take passenger flights into account, where do you think all
our freight comes in from? Back then Ipec were running freight flights
at one hell of a rate, it seems to be more sea-based now though).

I'm a car driver, I can drive a semi-trailer.

I'm not 17 years old (and haven't been for a long time), but yes I could
drive a passenger bus at the age of 17.

I admit I'd only driven smaller (up to 30 seat) ones at that point.

I think my friend Lyn was going on for 9 the first time she drove a
semi-trailer cattle truck on her Dad's farm in SA.

While I don't practice as a truckie, I still hold a HC licence...and
I've never done a formal licence test

I've had several conversations in the last while or two with people my
age (42...) or a bit older about 'how you got your licence' and those
who grew up in the country usually report something like;

I went to see the copper and he said 'I've seen you around - here you go'

That was my experience...bike, car, heavy combination

Recently I went to an 'Advanced Roadcraft' course on the
motorbicycle...my first training after 25 years of road riding / driving

Turned out to be an excuse to ride around for a bit on the racetrack
