two bikes not an option?

Yamaha has a very very beautiful Tenere for sale in Europe... *two*
disks up front, I doubt it would have any problem stopping :)

There is a 1200cc version, but I suspect it is way too big for a dual
sport bike.

Sure? The RMX has that stupid perimeter frame and a 1.6 gal tank.
Mileage will be inferior, not?

Huh? Suzukis are cheap, have alaways been in Austria:
2010 450EXC 9298 http://mx.gol.at/bikes/397.html
2010 RMX450Z 8699

I didn't manage to find comparable weights, and I'm afraid the RMX
is much heavier than the KTM. At least their predecessors were pigs.

Anyone got trustworthy or even first hand vehicle weights.

Well, burned child syndrome, I've seen so many fail so prematurely
hence my reluctance. Their 2s are really great, peerless and nothing
comes even remotely close to them (since the demise of the WR250Z that
is :) but their 4s are, umm.. possibly still a development work in
progress. And I'm not sporting KTM's desired user profile...

We'd just need some california type lemon law over here.

Man, that's a real tank. I remember in the ninetees we were given that
XTZ660 first series to ride on that Yamaha Adventure Event (14 days of
finest US-West OffRoad riding from Phoenix to Vegas, with helicopter
catering in the middle of Mormon trail). After these 14 days of mild
OffRoad usage the bikes were toast, suspension saggeed (almost vertical
when on the side stand) front fender ripped off, etc.

Brrr.. "Dual Sport" includes Emma&Vienna trail as well as I-70.

Just curious, but what about Husqvarna?
I heard that the 510 uses the older style top end (less performance,
but more reliability and longevity from what I read). They are street
legal around here.
